About the CNYGECs
What is the Consortium of New York Geriatric Education Centers?
The CNYGEC is affiliated with the national network of Geriatric Education Centers. We are located at the James J. Peters VA Medical Center, GRECC. We are a partnership between the:
- Columbia University’s Stroud Center for Quality of Life in Health and Aging and Center for Geriatrics and Gerontology, and the
OUR MISSION
The CNYGEC offers educational programs which improve and expand geriatric healthcare, particularly for low-income, multi-ethnic and underserved older adults throughout New York State. We provide interdisciplinary and innovative training courses on a wide range of issues, health conditions and service delivery models to healthcare professionals and academic leaders. We draw on the outstanding resources of five major teaching institutions, over 75 faculty, hundreds of clinical affiliates, and four major libraries.
FUNDING
The CNYGEC is funded in part by a federal grant received by the Mount Sinai School of Medicine from the Department of Health and Human Services’ Health Resources and Services Administration.
