Veterans Health Administration Rural Health Training & Education Initiative Spring Conference

On Thursday, April 20, 2017, the Hudson Valley Rural Geriatric Education Collaborative (HVRGEC) hosted a half-day spring conference for VA healthcare providers, trainees, and staff at the James J. Peters VA Medical Center in Bronx, New York. The theme of the conference was Complexity of Care Across Care Settings. 50 participants from the fields of medicine, nursing, social work, psychology, and other associated health professions were in attendance from the VA Hudson Valley Health Care System and the Bronx VA Medical Center.

This conference was co-sponsored by the VISN 2 GRECC and the CNYGEC.

Currently in its fifth year, HVRGEC is a joint Rural Health Training & Education Initiative between the VISN 2 Geriatric Research, Education and Clinical Center (GRECC), based at the James J. Peters VA Medical Center, and the VA Hudson Valley Health Care System that trains associated health students in rural geriatrics. Funded by the VHA Office of Rural Health and Office of Academic Affiliations, this collaborative program aims to prepare associated health trainees to provide high quality healthcare to older rural Veterans.
